Keto for India – Grocery shopping made easy…
Weight loss and healthy eating is a journey that begins at a grocery store.
The Size Zero Myth:
Keto Diet is not for Indians:
The Wise Hero Reality:
Yes, I would not say it is easy to manage Keto if you are living in India. Cheese cream and natural peanut butter is something which we do not eat regularly. These are luxury food for us. But I have found some cheap alternative brands which you can use for the keto diet. I use them regularly and order them online.
Remember before you even think of starting Keto diet, order these products as you will use them on a regular basis.
The most important thing you will need on Keto is a kitchen weighing scale as you will be weighing every gram you eat to take care of your daily macro intake. So if you are still not sure if this is needed or not, I would clearly add that WITHOUT THIS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO A SUCCESSFUL KETO DIET. Hence make sure you get this immediately.
- Has TARE option to weigh different ingredients a container.
- Priced at Rs. 499, this is quite reasonable.
- Also, useful for measuring other kitchen ingredients even if you are off Keto.
The second most important item on the list is an artificial sweetener. As you will have a complete restriction on sugar consumption, this is a must buy.
In India, the most common sugar substitute brand like sugar-free natura actually is an artificial sweetener which is not Keto friendly. Whereas Zevic is a natural sweetener extracted from Stevia which is a herb commonly known as sugar leaf. This is Keto friendly.
Also, buy them as a combo as you will save Rs. 77 on the product and Rs. 30 on delivery charges.
Another important ingredient which is really used to make many Keto recipes including Indian Paratha and bread is coconut flour. So, if you do not want to miss your favourite parathas, order this immediately.
I would suggest at least order two of these as you would use it more than you must have anticipated and the delivery might not be very fast.
Almond flour is obviously expensive. But you will not use it regularly so you can buy and keep this in your storage and use as and when required. I use these to make my favourite almond cookies to have with my evening black coffee. This can be used to make bread as well if you want a different taste than coconut flour.
If you have a sweet tooth and love pancakes and desserts, buy this immediately. You will not miss ice-creams and cakes.
You can also get Kraft Philadelphia Original Cream Cheese, 226g which will cost you Rs. 999. I find it overpriced.
Another alternate to buy cream cheese is Britannia Cream Cheese, you will find it in the local grocery store easily.
I have tried searching market for peanut butter which is natural with no artificial sugar added but I could not find any such brand. So, I ordered this brand of peanut butter which is unsweetened and much more advisable for Keto.
This is a highly recommend cheat product which I use to make mousse, ice-cream and cakes. You will not use this daily but you sure will need it to fulfill your sweet cravings occasionally. And if you are a chocolate fan, then definitely buy this.
This is something which I buy to replace maple syrup for pancakes as I could not find any maple syrup which would be Keto friendly in India.
No diet is impossible. Lack of ingredients does not stop me from going Keto, it should not stop you too. WILL POWER, SELF-CONTROL and DISCIPLINE is the key to follow any diet successfully.
