5 Blogging Resolutions every Blogger should follow in 2018
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]oday is the first day of the year. I started blogging almost a year ago and I don’t believe I have come so far. I took blogging as a hobby and realized this is something I love to do and I am really good at. I know I have a long way to go but 724 subscribed to my blog this year. Makes me so happy to see people enjoying what I write.
Many of my friends and family asked me my new year’s resolution. Well, I thought about it for a while and realized why not make blogging resolutions instead. New targets for blogging I would say.
I love blogging but I still need to improve myself in many areas. Here is a list of my new year resolution for blogging. If you are a blogger, this might inspire you and help you make your own blogging resolutions as well.
1. Forget past failure:
Last year I had a good run until the month of October when I had a small accident and all my blogging focus vanished. I lost some time there and did not do well those last few months of 2017. I have decided to put all my positive energy into blogging this year and hoping to do better.
Blogging is not as easy as it seems. There are months when we manage to get sufficient views and there are also times when the graph goes low. Do not get disheartened. Just keep putting efforts and you will get there soon.
Start your new year with fresh hopes and with a positive attitude.
2. Discipline in Blogging:
When I started blogging, it was for leisure so I blogged whenever I felt like it. After I realized I wanted to take my blogging career a step further, I started putting more efforts into it. Still, I could not manage to be disciplined as 2017 was a really eventful year for me.
Blogging is a hobby for many but, others like me want to make a career out of it. So if you are blogging for a livelihood, you need to have a work discipline. Allocate a specified number of hours for blogging every day, just like you have a disciplined time to work at an office.
Make blogging fun, you don’t have to sit from 9 to 5 every day, as I know blogging needs to be fun too. But have a disciplined number of hours allocated every day.
3. Consistency is the key:
This is one area where I have failed miserably in the past year. I always wanted to post at least twice a week but somehow failed to do so as I have been working on developing another website parallelly.
The only way to succeed as a blogger is to add more content to your website. Consistency is something which can really help in a long term. You may not have time to post 3 times a week but make sure to post at least once a week for your readers.
Make a goal of the number of posts you can do per month and divide it equally across the weeks. Blogging consistently will bring us one step closer to become a successful blogger.
4. Planning topics beforehand:
I have a lifestyle blog covering both physical and mental health aspect. But last year I wrote many topics related to spirituality for mental health but ignored other topic areas. I have decided to pre-plan the contents I write so that I cover all topic areas equally.
Pre-planning topics and making a schedule really helps and is definitely better than randomly writing something. Also, give all topic areas equal importance. For example, if you have a blog related to beauty and fashion, cover both areas equally as that is what you have promised your readers.
Planning will make you more organized. This will make you look professional to your readers as well.
5. Social Media Involvement:
I have been fairly involved in social media. I have joined more than 30 blogging groups on Facebook and I myself am admin of 2 groups. But I really need to get more involved in social media, I must say in a consistent way. I find it difficult to do so many things together but that’s where schedule works.
Promoting your blog is very important, and that will happen only when you are active on social media. When you are open to reading other peoples work, they will reciprocate. Do not spam all around.
Social media follows ‘give and take policy’. You need to engage with your readers and fellow bloggers to really create a positive reputation and reach out to millions of readers out there.
Resolutions is all about a new start with a new positive hope. Finally the best resolution for me and any blogger is to enjoy what we do and we will automatically achieve higher goals. Have a great year ahead everyone. CHEERS!!!
